History behind graffiti and street art

The first modern graffiti artist is known as Cornbread, and he used graffiti to get the attention from a girl in which he liked very much. He was a graduate student in Philadelphia in the 1970's, and he started to spray paint his art everywhere for this girl. Graffiti, by definition, is a defiant and public exhibition. Today, graffiti has become much popular and there are many famous street and graffiti artists that are known worldwide such as Banksy and Boris. There have been some artists that have used things such as stencils to create more elaborate work while others still free hand it.
